The State Archives in Pazin has held a series of public lectures since 2007. Lectures are usually organized once a month in the Great Hall of the Archives and are intended for the general public, researchers, students and all those interested in the history of Istria and archival material.

The aim of the cycle is to bring the work of archival institutions closer to the public and to highlight the value and significance of archival sources as a basis for historical, humanistic and social research. Archival material is presented not only as a source for scientific work, but also as a valuable support in researching local and family history.

The cycle involves scientists and experts from various fields dealing with topics related to Istria and its past. Each lecture is connected with archival material, at least one document or other original record, which further emphasizes the importance of archives as a place of preservation and research of historical sources.

The topics of the lectures cover different periods and areas of Istrian history, culture and society, and their presentation aims to stimulate public interest in archival material and the possibilities of its use.

The cycle of public lectures is accompanied by the eponymous publishing project. Lectures are published in writing so that their contents remain permanently available to the interested public and researchers. So far, four volumes have been published. the Public Lectures Collection.
