About the trainer:

Prof. dr. sc. Ivo Banac (Dubrovnik, 1947) is a prominent historian, writer and politician.  He lived in the United States from 1959 to 2009. He graduated from Fordham University and obtained his master's and doctoral degrees from Stanford University. He is an emeritus professor at Yale University. From 1994 to 1999, he was a history professor at the Central European University in Budapest, where he headed the Institute for Southeast Europe. Since 2008 he has been a full professor at the Department of History of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb, and since 1990 he has been a corresponding member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts (HAZU). He has been a co-chair of the Open Society-Croatia Institute, General Director of the Dubrovnik Inter-University Centre, President of the Liberal Party, Minister for Environmental Protection and Physical Planning in the Government of the Republic of Croatia, Member of the Croatian Parliament and President of the Croatian Helsinki Committee for Human Rights. He is the editor of East European Politics and Societies. He is the author of several books, dozens of articles and is the editor of numerous proceedings. He has received prestigious awards and recognitions for his work.
