Istria and the Century of Croatian Resistance to Fascism (25.11.2021.)

Prof. dr. sc. Renato Matić (Vinkovci, 1963) graduated from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb (1988), obtained his master's degree (1994) and his doctoral degree (2001) in sociology. He is employed as a full professor at the Faculty of Croatian Studies, University of Zagreb, where he holds a dozen courses at the Department of Sociology. In addition to general sociology, the main area of his scientific research and teaching activities is the sociology of crime and social deviance, the problems of violence and corruption and the social causes of prejudice and discrimination with an emphasis on the deviant phenomena and problems of Croatian society in the period of transition. He is the author of three books and numerous scientific and professional papers. He is one of the founders and lecturer at the Šoa Academy initiated by the Jewish Community of Zagreb. He is a member of the Croatian Sociological Society and the Professional Association of Criminalists and a member of the presidency of the Tempo Karate Club in Zagreb. He is a participant in the Homeland War and bearer of the Monument.
