About the trainer:

Dr. Sc. Marica Čunčić is a senior research associate at the Old Slavic Institute in Zagreb. She graduated from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Zagreb with a degree in Yugoslav languages, literature and English. At the same faculty, she received her master's degree in the field of Croatian linguistics and a doctoral degree in the field of philology (Glagolitic paleography) in 1987. Since 1977 she has been employed at the Old Slavic Institute in Zagreb, where she has been the director since 2005. She was an external associate at the Pontifical Institute for the Middle Ages in Toronto and lecturer at several faculties in the USA and Canada and at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Society of Jesus in Zagreb. The main interest of her scientific research is Glagolitic paleography, with expertise in the origin, morphology and position of the letters of the triangular and round Glagolitic alphabet and their confirmation in the oldest Glagolitic monuments (10th-11th century). She has participated in the scientific projects ‘Dictionary of the Church Slavonic Language of the Croatian redaction’ and ‘Glagolitic Paleography’ of the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports, and is now Deputy Head of the Scientific Centre of Excellence for Croatian Glagolitic Studies, which is headed by the Old Slavic Institute. She is the editor-in-chief of Slovo magazine.
