Taking examinations to verify the professional competence of employees in the management of documentary and archival material outside the archives is a legal prerequisite for working on the protection and processing of documentary and archival material in bodies, institutions and organizations that create or preserve material.
The method and program of passing the professional exam are prescribed by the Ordinance on professional archival titles and other titles in the archival profession and the conditions and method of their acquisition (OG 104/2019). The examination is organised and conducted by the Commission for the Professional Exam for the Management of Documentary and Archival Materials Outside the Archives, appointed by the Ministry responsible for cultural affairs at the proposal of the Croatian Archival Council.
The right to take the exam is granted to persons who have at least a secondary degree and at least six months of professional experience in performing the tasks of managing documentary and archival material outside the archives.
