About the Library
The Library of the State Archives in Pazin was founded in 1962 as a special library. Its main task is to collect, preserve and provide for the use of library material that complements archival material and includes published sources and literature important for local, national and general history.
In the first years of its operation, the fund was designed in parallel with the collection of archival material, thus collecting a significant number of older and rare publications, especially those printed before 1835.
Library Fund
The library fund is being developed in a planned manner, in accordance with the needs of the Archive staff and external users. The building is purchased through purchase, exchange, gifts and own publishing activity.
The Fund is organised in several thematic collections:
- reference collection;
- a collection of professional archival literature;
- collection of official publications;
- the Homeland Collection Histrica;
- collection of old and valuable material;
- a general fund;
- special collections of legacies – the collection of Tugomil Ujčić and the collection of Stojan Brajša.
Use of Materials
Library materials are available for use in the reading room. Open access is provided to the reference collection located in the reading room, while other material is used according to closed access and is not borrowed outside the Archive.
The library staff is available to users when searching and using the material. If the library does not have the requested publication, it is possible to request an interlibrary loan.
The library material is gradually processed in METELwin and is available for search via the Archives website.
