From 11 to 13 May, the eighth international symposium Istrian Historical Biennale will be held at the Sinčić Gallery of the Poreč Heritage Museum with the theme ‘Artisani et mercatores: on craftsmen and traders in the Adriatic area’. The event was organised by the Poreč Heritage Museum – Museo del territorio parentino, the Juraj Dobrila University of Pula – Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and the State Archives in Pazin.
It is an international symposium launched in 2003 by a joint cooperation of three institutions that have managed to maintain the continuity of the symposium over the decades, and it is also one of the few symposiums in the region that is regularly held and deals with everyday history.
This year's conference is dedicated to craftsmen and traders in the Adriatic area, and the presentations will be held by 21 scientists from Croatia, Italy, Slovenia and Montenegro. The opening of the conference will take place on Thursday 11 May at 6 p.m., during which a collection of works from the last conference entitled ‘Religio, fides, superstitiones…: on beliefs and devotions in the Adriatic area’.
The conference is financially supported by the ministries of culture and science of the Republic of Croatia, the County of Istria, the City of Poreč, cities and municipalities of the County of Istria and takes place in the Sinčić Gallery of the Regional Museum of Poreč. Entrance is free.
