Today, on Thursday, 8 October 2026 at 12 noon, the memorial plaque Zvani Črnji is unveiled in Zagreb. It is placed on a house in Krajiška street 17, where Črnja lived and created for years, and the ceremony is organized by the Čakavski sabor Žminj.
The introductory words of the hosts are followed by commemorative speeches by the President of the Chakavian Parliament and representatives of the City of Zagreb, cultural institutions and families. Then the lyrics of Črnja will be read, about 12:45 plates will be revealed, and the program ends with statements for the media and socializing guests.
The aim of the project is to continually preserve the memory of Črnjin's contribution to Croatian literature, language and identity. It was realized in cooperation with businessmen from the author's homeland: The board was made and donated by the company Kamen d.d. Pazin, and transport to Zagreb was provided by the company Rudan d.o.o. Žminj.
Zvane Črnja (Blacked near Žminj, 1920. He was a writer, essayist and cultural scientist, founder of the Chakavian Parliament (1969) and author of the ‘Cultural History of Croatia’.
