The duty of the director of the State Archives in Pazin is performed by Mirela Mrak Kliman, dipl. iur., senior archivist.

The State Archives in Pazin are managed by the Director, who is appointed and dismissed by the Minister responsible for culture. The Director shall be appointed for four years following an open competition and may be reappointed.
In accordance with the Statute of the State Archives in Pazin, the Director:
- organizes and manages the work and operations of the Archive;
- Represents and represents the Archives;
- organises and supervises professional tasks and is responsible for the legality of work;
- take legal action in the name and on behalf of the Archive;
- adopt general acts falling within its competence;
- implement the decisions and conclusions of the Governing Council;
- decide on employment matters in accordance with regulations and general acts;
- sign acts and other documentation within its competence;
- make suggestions and opinions in order to improve the work and development of the Archive;
- performs other tasks specified by law, the Statute and other general acts.
