The duty of the director of the State Archives in Pazin is performed by Mirela Mrak Kliman, dipl. iur., senior archivist.

On the basis of Art. 41. The Archives and Archives Act (NN Nos 61/18, 98/19) stipulates that the State Archives in Pazin (hereinafter: DAPA) is managed by the director of the archives appointed or dismissed by the Minister of Culture. The Director of Archives shall be appointed for four years following an open competition and may be reappointed.

Based on Art. 21 and 22. The following tasks fall under the responsibility of the Director of the DAPA Statute: organizes and manages the work and business of DAPA; represents and represents DAPA; take all legal actions in the name and on behalf of DAPA; Represents DAPA in all proceedings before courts, administrative and other state bodies and legal persons vested with public authority; organises and supervises professional work in DAPA and is responsible for the legality of work in DAPA; adopts general acts of the DAPA, unless they fall within the scope of the Administrative Council; adopt work and development programmes and supervise their implementation; adopt the financial plan and the annual statement of accounts; decide on the allocation of resources to carry out the activity; is the principal for all payments from the giro account; decide on all matters relating to the employment relationship; sign all DAPA acts; appoint the persons authorised to sign the financial documents; appoint the members and heads of the DAPA Expert Council and Commissions; provide the founder and the competent authorities and bodies with suggestions and opinions regarding the improvement of the conditions for the development of activities; performs other tasks specified by the Act and other by-laws, the Statute and general acts of the DAPA.
