On Friday, February 20, 2026, a guest exhibition was officially opened in the Great Hall of the State Archives in Pazin. the Koper Provincial Archives ‘Villas as an architectural heritage of the tourist boom of Portorož and its surroundings at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries’.
The exhibition through selected archival material, historical photographs and blueprints shows the development of tourist architecture and the shaping of the urban identity of the city Portorož during its intense boom in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Special emphasis was placed on villas as representative examples of architectural heritage that marked the area and contributed to the development of tourism in the northern Adriatic.
This exhibition continues the successful cooperation of archival institutions in the region and further encourages the exchange of knowledge and the valorization of common cultural and historical heritage.
The exhibition can be viewed with prior notice until March 20, 2026.
