XII was held in Motovun from 14 to 16 November 2025. International Scientific Conference – Motovun Colloquium on Women and Men. The event took place in the premises of the City Tower (New City Gate) and the Five Towers Gallery, bringing together numerous scientists and experts from Croatia and abroad.
The colloquium was organised by the State Archives in Pazin, the ‘Josip Turčinović’ Centre, the Municipality of Motovun, the Tourist Board of the Municipality of Motovun, the Photographers’ Association Fotovun and the Littera Association. This year's theme was focused on an interdisciplinary view of the relationship between women and men through historical, legal, social and cultural perspectives, from the ancient period to the modern era.
During the three-day programme, a series of scientific presentations were held in which participants discussed the situation of women and men in different historical and social contexts, issues of equality, identity, rights, demographic change and the role of gender in shaping social structures. The presentations were accompanied by discussions that further contributed to the exchange of knowledge and experience between participants.
A special part of the program was a musical evening at the historic Callid organ from 1797, held in the Parish Church of St. John the Baptist. Stjepan was the first student in Motovun, which enriched the scientific program with cultural and artistic content.
As part of the colloquium, the Proceedings of the XI. Motovun Colloquium ‘The Trieste Question. Migration and Identity", which completed the scientific work of the previous conference, and also announced the topic of the Motovun Colloquium for 2026.
The conclusions and discussions of the last day of the conference confirmed the importance of the Motovun Colloquium as a continuous platform for scientific dialogue and its role in promoting interdisciplinary research into social and cultural phenomena.
