Today, in the premises of the Coworking Centre Pula, contracts were solemnly signed on the basis of the conducted Public Call for the allocation of funds for the financing of public needs in culture of the Istrian County for 2024. The contracts with the beneficiaries of the funds were signed by the Istrian prefect Boris Miletić, and the ceremony was attended and led by the program Head of Culture and Heritage Vladimir Torbica.
"Today, we are presenting the part of the programme that has been funded through the 2024 Programme of Public Needs in Culture. Signing is organized for two reasons, that is, to present your programs, but also to make you get to know each other a little bit. The County of Istria receives more than 300 applications per year to the Public Call in question and it is normally not possible to finance all of them. We strive to finance projects and programmes that are really of the highest quality and sustainable in the long and short term", said introductory Head of Culture and Heritage Vladimir Torbica.
A total of 24 contracts were signed, i.e. 19 users of cultural associations, institutions and units of local self-government and even the private sector. They are:

The value of the programme is €278,620.04 and the total appropriations are €743,000.00 – an increase compared to last year 20.%.
“Investing in culture is investing in our identity, preserving our traditions, but also supporting young artists”, said Prefect Miletić.
“I like to say that culture is an investment in a better future. Some call it a cost, which I have never accepted because I believe that culture defines our identity. Thank you all very much for preserving and promoting this Istrian identity, and transmitting it to the younger generations. I would like to thank Head Torbika, who is really trying to fight for a budget split related to public needs in culture and is very successful in this", he added.
