This year again, the State Archives in Pazin joined other archival institutions in Croatia with the aim of traditionally marking the International Archives Day on 9 June.
This year's theme in DAPA was dedicated to the presentation of one of the great Croatian archivists prof. dr.sc. by Josip Kolanovic. Through his work, he left an indelible mark in the Croatian archivist community, and shaped numerous generations of Croatian archivists, not only as the director of the Croatian State Archives, but as a true promoter of archival activity and the importance of archives as heritage institutions that preserve the cultural tradition and identity of a people.
A lecture on his life and work was given by mr.sc. Jakov Jelinčić, a longtime employee and former director of DAPA, who looked back not only on their many years of cooperation as two directors of the archives, but also introduced the present with lesser known facts related to the education and life path of dr.sc. by Josip Kolanovic.
In the second part of the commemoration, a lecture entitled ‘Archive material and restoration activities in the State Archives in Pazin’ was held. The lecture was given by Jasna Mrkonjić and Sanja Šetić, archival workers who briefly presented the exhibited archival material and pointed to the importance of the need for restoration work on archival material, as an essential component of preserving and prolonging the “lifespan” of valuable archival material.
