On the occasion of the International Archives Day, the State Archives in Pazin (hereinafter: DAPA) and this year, for the 13th year in a row, joined this international event. Marking this day, the Croatian archival community through various cultural and promotional programs encourages and develops public awareness of archival material as an extremely valuable and rich monumental treasure and points to the importance of protecting written cultural heritage.

This year's International Archives Day in Croatia is marked by a common theme Digital Our Daily, which is on track and corresponds to the theme of the International Archives Council: Empowering Archives.

The theme is conceived as a framework that presents different content: presentation of digitised funds and collections of materials, reflection on digitalisation as a security and protection process, on digitalisation as a contribution to accessibility, possibly also as a remembrance of initial attempts and mistakes and pointing to the resulting progress, presentation of diverse virtual workshops, questioning the storage and management of digital content, linking digitised material to significant events/anniversaries of the local environment, or pointing to good examples of inter-institutional cooperation in this context.

On the occasion of the International Archives Day, DAPA employees Gordan Grzunov and Vedran Dukovski presented the project Minutes of the sessions of the District People's Committee for Istria (1945-1947) in the Great Hall of DAPA. Project for the publication of transcripts of the minutes of the sessions of the District People's Committee for Istria (hereinafter: ONOI) was designed as part of the commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the arrival of the Inter-Allied Commission for Demarcation with Italy (March/April 1946) and the provisions of the Peace Conference on the Accession of Istria to Yugoslavia (October 1946). The minutes of the meetings of ONOI are divided into the minutes of the Executive Board and the minutes of the District Assembly for Istria. They show very clearly the social, economic and political processes that these bodies of ONOI have encountered. They also show the problems they encountered, how they solved or tried to solve them, and the extent to which they managed to implement certain economic, social and political reforms and processes. Since this was a period when the state-legal status of Istria was very uncertain, the minutes also testify to the preparations for the arrival of the Inter-Allied Commission for the Demarcation with Italy in March 1946, proving the Slavity of Istria, the harmonious coexistence of Croats and Italians in Istria, and show the process of preparations for the territorial and national integration of Istria into the composition of the People's Republic of Croatia within the FNRJ. They also show the internal structure and personnel problems of ONOI and lower authorities such as district, city, local and rural NOs. The minutes also show the interrelationship between ONOI and lower NOs and the interrelationship between district, city and local NOs. The project primarily targets an interest group of historians-researchers and enthusiasts interested in the post-war Istrian period. The publication of transcripts of ONOI’s minutes will allow and facilitate researchers and others to consult the original documents of ONOI without issuing the original – which will also protect the original material.
