On the occasion of the International Archives Week 2024, a roundtable discussion and a panel discussion took place at the Pazin State Archives on 6 June 2024 at 12.30 p.m. Archives and new users (researchers).
A total of thirteen participants of panelists from different professions and employments participated in the discussion aimed at pointing out the archives and archival profession as a very important segment of the social community, primarily in historiographic, cultural, educational, professional and scientific sense. The discussion is conceived in such a way that the panelists themselves present their experiences and expectations of the archives as part of the social and professional community and point out any difficulties they have encountered or suggest ways to further improve and connect with the archives. Archivists are thus looking for adequate programmes (e.g. virtual exhibitions, various applications), cooperation models (e.g. archives and tourist boards: enrichment of the offer with less known/unknown facts from local history…) and content presentations (multimedia approach, social networks, presentation tailored to people with different needs…) in which different audience segments will meet their needs for new insights, experiences, education and ultimately entertainment.
