The State Archives in Pazin receive a large number of requests for search and delivery of data from the archives. In order to ensure the timely handling of requests from our jurisdiction and the equal availability of services to all users, we inform you that the employees of the Archive do not implement:
• extensive genealogical research (research of the family tree),
• surveys for which the applicant does not have the basic data necessary to find the requested material (for example, first and last name, approximate period, place or other relevant data);
• extensive research that requires an overview of a large amount of archival material.
Users who wish to carry out this type of research can do so independently by using archival material in the reading room of the State Archives in Pazin, with a prior application and in accordance with the Ordinance on the use of archival material, where the employees of the Archive will provide users with all the necessary information about the available material, direct them to the appropriate funds and collections and give professional instructions for the use of material in the reading room.

Some mother-books are digitized and are available at www.familysearch.org. so users can do the research themselves.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Search instructions

Search instructions: the civil registers are arranged in alphabetical order according to the name of the parish or place (for newer civil registers). Within each parish/place they are arranged by type: born/baptized (MKR), married (MKV), deceased (MKU) and state of souls (SD), and within that in chronological order. At the end of each record, it shall be stated whether the book is digitised. Registration books can be searched by place, settlement/village, type, place of storage and period. For questions about the availability of a particular register, please contact the DAPA Reading Room.
