The role of the Holy See in the Gortanovci trial in 1929 (15.12.2021)

Dr. Sc. Elvis Orbanić (Pula, 1978) graduated from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb. He received his doctorate on the topic Social and religious life of the Diocese of Poreč “a parte Imperij” in the 17th century. An example of Pazin, Stari Pazin, St. Peter in the Forest and Žminj. From August 2007 to January 2019, he was the director of the State Archives in Pazin, and since February 2019 he has been employed as a research associate for history at the Institute for Historical and Social Sciences of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Rijeka, Regional Unit in Pula. As part of his scientific and professional activities, he studies the area of the northern Adriatic, Istria from the 16th to the beginning of the 19th century, church and cultural history in the early modern period and deals with the publication of historical sources of the early modern period. He is an active participant at numerous professional conferences in Croatia and abroad in the field of ecclesiastical and cultural history and archival research. He is the author of numerous scientific articles and several monographs. He received a plaque from the Municipality of Pićan in 2012 for his contribution to the study of the historical structure of the municipal centre and the Pićan region, and received scholarships for scientific research in Italy and the United Kingdom.

Dr. Sc. Milan Radošević (Pula, 1983), research associate, graduated from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Pula on the topic of Social Policy of Fascism in Istria in the 1930s. He graduated from the postgraduate doctoral study of Croatian modern and contemporary history in the European and world context at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb and received his PhD on Tuberculosis and Malaria in the Istrian Province in 1918. 1940-1940 Since 2008 he has been employed at the Institute for Historical and Social Sciences of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Rijeka, Regional Unit in Pula. As part of its scientific and professional activities, it studies the history of Istria and the Kvarner coast in the 20th century, especially its social component with an emphasis on public health processes and political history with an emphasis on antifascism. He is an active participant in bilateral scientific research projects and project leader of the Centuries of European Antifascism. Istria between local and global, as part of the Istrian Historical Society. He has published one author's and three editorial books and about a hundred professional and scientific papers, reviews, press releases, presentations, exhibition catalogues. He was an external associate in doctoral studies at the University of Koper (University of Primorska), the University of Zagreb and the University of Dubrovnik in co-mentoring and evaluating candidates' doctoral papers.
