On 18 September 2026, the International Scientific and Professional Conference was held in Pula on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of c. kr. Istrian State Railways.

The conference brought together scientists and experts who, through presentations and discussions, presented various aspects of the emergence and development of railways and their impact on the economic, social and transport development of Istria. Special attention was paid to the role of railways in connecting Istria with the wider area and the importance of railway heritage as a part of cultural and historical heritage.

The 150th anniversary is an opportunity to preserve the memory of the development of railway traffic in Istria, encourage further research and valorise its heritage.

The organizer of the conference was the Society for the Study and Preservation of Maritime and Cultural-Historical Heritage c. i kr. The navy ‘Viribus unitis’ Pula – Pola, co-organised by the Historical Research Centre Rovinj – Centro di Ricerche Storiche Rovigno, the State Archives in Pazin, the Humanistic Society for Amenities, Art and Culture Histria, the Croatian Society of Railway Engineers and the Pula Tourist Board – Ente per il turismo della Città di Pola.
