In September 1899, the Imperial-Royal Grand State Gymnasium in Pazin was founded. It was the first high school with Croatian language classes in Istria and is located in the former barracks on Buraj, a building that today houses the working and storage spaces of the State Archives in Pazin.
The gymnasium was in operation until 1918, and 12 generations of graduates came out of it.
After the Second World War, it continued its activities under the name of the Croatian Real Gymnasium in Pazin.
In honor of the Croatian Gymnasium in Pazin, and on the occasion of this great 120th anniversary, from Monday, November 11th to Saturday, November 16th, the Week of the Croatian Gymnasium in Pazin is held and is filled with a large number of events, and ends with the Saturday Meeting of generations of graduates and professors in the Pazin Memorial Home.
