Exhibit at a glance:

The visiting exhibition “Teachers and Teachers in Croatia 1849-2009” of the Croatian School Museum was opened on Friday in the large hall of the State Archives in Pazin. The exhibition was originally created as a derivative of a larger project from 2009, within which it was opened to commemorate numerous anniversaries: 160 years since the first state teacher school in Croatia, 150 years of the pedagogical journal ‘Napredak’, 120 years of the Croatian Teachers’ House and 90 years of higher teacher education. Building from the collections of the Croatian School Museum, the exhibition evokes all segments of the teacher's vocation and work, showing teachers as people we live with and see ourselves in, and takes us on a timeline from the beginning of the teaching in us to the present day. The exhibition contains a multitude of recordings of the materials of the Croatian School Museum – textbooks and manuals, photographs, school equipment… The accompanying catalogue, which is divided into seven chapters, provides very interesting information on the history of Croatian education. The setup can be viewed during the working hours of the archives until 9 November. The opening was enriched with a recitation performance by the students of the Primary School of Pazin Klementina Jurad and Josipa Ferenčić, while the exhibition was talked about by the director of the Pazin Archives Elvis Orbanić, the director of the Croatian School Museum Branka Manin, the county head for education Patricia Smoljan and the author of the exhibition Sonja Gaćina Škalamera.
