For the ninth consecutive year, an international scientific conference Motovun Colloquium was held in Motovun from 11 to 13 November 2022. This year, in the midst of all sorts of crises and uncertainties, and after the outbreak and passage of several waves of the COVID-19 pandemic to which the whole world is strongly exposed and which have changed its face in the past few years, the thermal assembly is dedicated to crises and emergencies both in history, with an emphasis on Greco-Roman and canon law, as well as in the 20th century and in modernity. This gathering has always reflected realities and current issues, so this year as well, about 20 scientists and experts question the impact of crises and emergencies, with a special emphasis on diseases, on legal systems and their adaptations to the indicated conditions. An astonishing number of principles, concepts and institutes in law have been designed and developed precisely in response to emergency situations and crises. In ordinary circumstances they are often not noticed, but in the past few years the circumstances have made everyone aware of them and their meaning.

The conference brought together scientists from six completely different departments of law faculties (Roman law, general history of law and state, Croatian legal history, economic policy, political economy, constitutional law), canonists (church lawyers), historians, art historians, philologists, lawyers, religious teachers, culturologists, etc. Since the very beginnings of the Motovun Colloquium, emphasis has been placed on civil and canon law and their functioning in certain specific thematic frameworks, situations and states. The meeting was held in the City Tower in Motovun and the Five Towers Gallery.

The organizers of the event are: State Archives in Pazin, Josip Turčinović d.o.o., Motovun Municipality, Motovun Municipality Tourist Board and Fotovun Photographer Association.
