Exhibit at a glance:

International Archives Day is celebrated every year in all archives of the Republic of Croatia with one theme. On the occasion of marking the third international day of archives in 2011, the State Archives in Pazin opened an exhibition on the topic of civil registry. Since the Institution cares for over six hundred civil registry books from the period from the 16th to the 20th century, a segment of civil registry has imposed itself, which should be shown to the public. All herd books belong to the Collection of herd books within which they are divided into two series (wholes): Church registers (those whose creators are parish offices) and State registers (those whose creators are registry offices). Parent books are an inexhaustible source of research in various branches of science, which makes their importance and value invaluable. The aim of the exhibition was to show the historical development of the civil registers; from the records of believers to the records of citizens and believers, putting emphasis on the age of books, the way they are kept (in narrative form, i.e. in form form) and the type (born/baptized, married, deceased, state of souls…), and protection, conservation and restoration.
