About the trainer:
Dr. Sc. Vjeran Pavlaković is an associate professor at the Department of Cultural Studies of the University of Rijeka, and the subject of his primary scientific interest are commemorative ceremonies and places of remembrance. He received his PhD from the Department of History at the University of Washington in 2005 where he defended his dissertation on Croatian volunteers in the Spanish Civil War. He published about 18 review and scientific papers on the issues of refugees in the former Yugoslavia, war criminals and war crimes, tribunals and democratization in Croatia. He is the leader of numerous projects that explore the problems of cultural memory, transitional justice in the former Yugoslavia and the Spanish Civil War. He is the author of three monographs on the Spanish Civil War in the former Yugoslavia in Croatian and English, and the editor and author of articles in proceedings and magazines that publish works on historical, political, cultural and social topics.
