On the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Bishop Juraj Dobrila, the State Archives in Pazin organizes an exhibition of posters Juraj Dobrila (1812. 1882) on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of birth which will present to the public a selection of archival material from the collections of the State Archives in Pazin, other institutions and from private individuals. The opening of the exhibition will be held on 28 September 2012 in Episcopy Basilica in Poreč, and the exhibition will be opened for a month. Archives since 2009 as part of the project Juraj Dobrila systematically works on the identification, recording and collection of archival material that testifies to the life, personality and activity of the Bishop. The exhibition pays tribute to this Croatian great and presents the three-year work of the Archive on this project. To date, copies of written sources have been collected from more than 20 institutions and those owned by private individuals from Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Italy, the Czech Republic and the Vatican. When setting up the exhibition and creating the catalogue, the archive is guided by the words of Dr. Matko Mandić, priest, reviver and member of the Provincial Parliament and the Viennese Parliament, which were published on the centenary of the Bishop's birth in 1912. : Be here permitted to express a wish, that all the letters of the bishop, each of his manuscripts, may be in the Which of our leaves we betrayed, and thus forget and ruin kidnapped. Such, to every Croat of Istria dear and holy bishop's legacy, would have a place to safely prepare and preserve for the offspring. The aim of the exhibition is to provide a complete representation of Juraj Dobrila as a priest, politician and reviver with posters and archival material as the most credible proof of Dobrila's life, activity and thinking. For this reason, the material is classified into ten units that reflect important units of his life and work and are shown in 14 posters. These are the following units: Biography of Juraj Dobrila, Schooling of Juraj Dobrila, Bishop of Poreč and Pula, Bishop of Trieste and Koper, Representative of the people of Istria, Revival of the people of Istria, Our syllables, Creation of Juraj Dobrila, Relationship with J. J. Strossmayer and Death and Legacy. The exhibition line-up includes, above all, previously unpublished archival material with an emphasis on Dobrila's manuscripts, which are complemented by photographs, digital photographs of portraits, newspaper articles, other documentation and quotations from the Bishop's correspondence. At the opening of the exhibition, the exhibition was completed with originals from the State Archives in Pazin, the Diocesan Archives in Poreč and the Parish Office in Pazin, which are located in 10 showcases.
