The International Scientific and Professional Conference "Medieval Statutes of Istria and Kvarner" was held on 5 and 6 December at State Archives in Rijeka, bringing together numerous scientists and experts in the field of historical and legal sciences.

The gathering was organized State Archives in Rijeka, State Archives in Pazin, Koper Provincial Archives / Archivio regionale di Capodistria i Faculty of Law in Rijeka.

During the two-day program, participants presented the legal-historical importance of medieval statutes of Istria and Kvarner, their relation to Roman law, social customs, criminal law provisions, economic issues and the role of statutes in the research of the cultural and legal heritage of the northern Adriatic. Special attention was also paid to the issues of protection, restoration, publishing and interpretation of statutory material.

The conference confirmed the importance of an interdisciplinary approach to the study of medieval statutes and their lasting value as a source for understanding the legal, social and cultural development of Istria and Kvarner.
