<\/p>\nFollowing a public procurement procedure, the State Archives in Pazin signed today, on 13 April 2023, a contract with the company DE CONTE d.o.o. from Labin on public works for the reconstruction and upgrade of the former military warehouse \u2018Berto\u0161i\u2019 for the purposes of the archive repository. The value of the signed contract is 2.094.200,00 euros without VAT, and the deadline for the completion of works is the end of November 2024.<\/p>\n
The reconstruction and upgrade of the military warehouse will include the reconstruction of the existing building, which will be accompanied by a workshop for the conservation and restoration of materials on paper, and the upgrade of the northern building, which will serve fully for the reception and permanent preservation of archival material. Of the projected 1,600 m\u00b2 net usable area, almost 1,200 m\u00b2 will house archival repositories with movable racks, in which it is estimated that up to 9,500 bound meters of archival material will be stored.<\/p>\n
Due to the lack of storage space, the State Archives in Pazin have not taken over archival material since the end of the 70s of the last century. After the completion of the contracted works, the State Archives in Pazin will begin to take over the archives of public creators from the area of Istria County, primarily judicial bodies that are the priority area of intervention of this investment.<\/p>\n
The execution of works under this contract is an integral part of one of a total of five activities contained in the investment \u2018Improving the digital infrastructure and public sector services by developing the national archive information system and strengthening the national archives network\u2019 under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, which is fully financed by the Recovery and Resilience Facility.<\/p>\n
The total value of the investment is EUR 35,173,630.23 (HRK 265,015,717.00) and is implemented by the Ministry of Culture and Media in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice and Administration, the Croatian State Archives, regional state archives and judicial authorities.<\/p>\n
The goal of the investment is to transform the business of state archives and improve the management of documentation by public authorities, the judicial system and other creators of documentary and archival material that will provide them with responsible and transparent business operations. The implementation of one of the activities will increase the storage capacities in 8 regional state archives in the Republic of Croatia for the reception of approximately 80,000 meters of required material, which will ensure adequate protection and preservation of valuable written heritage and contribute to reducing the costs of space, equipment and people at the creators of the material. The development of a national archive information system and the necessary storage capacities for digitised material, with the provision of appropriate equipment for digitisation, will enhance the capacity of material creators, primarily judicial authorities, to manage the material in digital form, which will ultimately enable greater availability of material and faster provision of services, and ensure responsible and transparent business operations.<\/p>\n
