The significant turnout and interest of scientists in participating in the First International Scientific Conference \"The Istrian Economy Yesterday and Tomorrow\" in 2013 was the occasion for the organisation of the Second International Scientific Conference. The concept of the conference is expanding and increasingly connecting the scientific framework with the real sector and professional and cultural institutions. The two-day conference on 25 and 26 November 2016 in Pazin and Pula became the basis for the continuation of the scientific approach to the historical heritage and contemporary challenges of the economic development of Istria. As part of this year's event, special emphasis is placed on the 160th anniversary of the founding of Uljanik, connected with the proclamation of Pula as the main war port of the Habsburg Monarchy, which represents a true trigger for the industrial transformation of our peninsula. It is therefore natural that the event extended to the concept of zero on 24 November 2016 with the exhibition \u2018The Beginnings of Pula\u2019s Library\u2019 at the Pula City Library and Reading Room and the multimedia exhibition at the Pula Polytechnic entitled \u2018Three Centuries of Pula through Three House Numbers\u2019. The success of the scientific conference was confirmed by about fifty participants who presented the topic of the Istrian past, but also its modern development. In addition to Croatia, scientists from Austria, Italy, Poland and Slovenia contributed. The multidisciplinary scientific approach has gathered for the same scientists from the natural, social and humanities sciences this year, offering a dialogue on the economic connection between Istria and its geographical neighbors, reflecting on the intertwining of the economy in all aspects of society. The received announcements are grouped into the following sessions:<\/p>\n

ECONOMIC AND SOCIETY-POLITICAL, CHURCH, RIGHT.\u00a0 The economic presence of Istria in the Mediterranean area through the Middle Ages and the Early New Ages was considered; Monastery inventories (from the 17th and 18th centuries) of Franciscan conventuals in Istria as a kind of indicators of material condition; Monastery of st. St. John the Baptist in Dajla in the perspective of the \"Economy of Providence\"; The influence of the church on Istrian medieval statutory law; Economic base of the Croatian movement of Istria (from 1880 to 1914); Finally, the Catholic Church in Istria and the agrarian reform in 1945 were shown. 1947-1947<\/p>\n

INTEGRATES, INSTITUTIONAL SUPPORT, ECONOMIC INFRASTRUCTURE. Based on the interest expressed by scientists this time, we conclude that the international scientific conference IGJS will become traditional and its third edition is expected in 2018.<\/p>\n
